You may notice an unusual phenomenom among crowds at the 2012 Ryder Cup. It's not the rampant booing of anyone without an American passport.
Nor is it the increasingly fervent and maddeningly repetitive chanting of every American's three favourite letters.
Instead it's individuals shouting "mashed potatoes!" after tee shots. And no-one really knows why.
