On a cloudy August 18th afternoon in the Bronx, Boston Red Sox pitcher Craig Breslow ’02 and catcher Ryan Lavarnway ’09 made a little baseball history when they became the first All-Eli battery in the Major League’s modern era. (According to sports historian Steve Eschenbach, the only other time this occurred was in 1883, when Philadelphia Athletics pitcher Daniel “Jumping Jack” Jones ’84 was on the mound and catcher Al Hubbard was behind the plate.)
