Gov. Sarah Palin to resign her office

advertisement

There was no immediate word as to why she will resign, though speculation has been rampant that the former vice presidential candidate is gearing up for a run at the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Oops, there are two threads on this. I'll repeat my comment from George's thread.

Maybe the RNC plans to ditch the genius they have now and will replace him with another genius in the form of Sarah Palin. It's possible. She must have something waiting in the wings.

Jack, I'd be surprised if the GOP didn't attempt to harness some of her so-called Star Power. It's not like they have a lot of star-quality party members ready to take the reigns. I'm not thinking president (gawd forbid) or even veep, but something that will bring something positive to the hapless GOP.

Well, we know now that she has said it is because she is not running for reelection and as such is a lame duck, something she doesn't believe in. What a lame (pun intended) excuse, and one that will make any future attempt at national office all the harder.

I for one, really really hope the news agencies can get their act together and keep important news that impacts our lives in the headlines.

This is bound to be a payday for Fox, MSNBC, CNN and others.

Please, keep the pressure on news agencies to focus on what matters to our lives and treat this as a sideline, not headline...

Det, that's absolutely the truth. But what bothers people is her presumption about being qualified, knowledgeable and frankly intelligent enough for the Top Job. She's like an American Idol contestant who gets the hook, while you're wondering why this person is on stage in the first place.

That story is a myth, det.

Perhaps there were moments where it scrolled slightly past her exact point in the speech. But I was sitting in the press section next to the stage, within easy eyeshot of the teleprompter. I frequently looked up at the machine, and there was no serious malfunction. A top convention planner confirms this morning that there were no major problems.
